January 8th, 2017 -
Clay Daly opened the 2017 campaign on Saturday evening by traveling to Arizona Speedway (Queen Creek, Arizona) for the 11th annual Keyser Manufacturing Wild West Shootout presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts. In a field of 49 Super Late Models, Daly logged the 6th fastest time in his qualifying group. Sending the Top 3 out of his 8-lap heat race, Clay registered a 6th place spot giving him one last shot at the $5,000-to-win main event with a B-Main appearance. Transferring the Top 2, Clay Daly dropped back to a 7th place outing.

Returning on Sunday, Clay timed in 5th fastest in his qualifying session putting him on the 3rd row of his heat. Needing a 4th place finish or better to make the show, Daly came up spot shy with a 5th place finish. Starting on the front row of his consolation event, Clay Daly was running in a transfer position into the show until getting taken out by another competitor bringing a disappointing end to his weekend.
